Our next Open Morning is on Saturday 10 May from 9:30am to 1:30pm
We hold Open Mornings each term for families to discover what makes an Ampleforth education a Compass for Life; a transformative education which broadens horizons, instils purpose and meaning in life, and offers so much more than simply excellent academic results.
Thank you for the warm welcome and excellent organisation of the Open Day at Ampleforth College. We thoroughly enjoyed our time and the chance to explore the school. A special thanks to the students who gave us a fantastic tour – their sincerity and friendliness were impressive.

What happens on Open Days?
After being welcomed by the Headmaster, you will hear from students and senior members of staff about Ampleforth and have the chance to ask questions before being taken on a tour by students. Our students are the most important people you will meet on Open Day as they will tell you what life in our beautiful valley is really like. After lunch, you are most welcome to stay on to watch a variety of sports fixtures in the afternoon and have tea in the Pavilion from 3pm.

School (or college) isn’t a sufficient word to encompass all that we saw at Ampleforth. This is a community and a way of life – some families have five generations of living and learning in this beautiful corner of North Yorkshire. The surroundings are both tranquil and magnificent, the opportunities are tremendous, the education is well-structured and helps pupils of different abilities find the right route.
