Dance
Pupils are trained by our specialist Dance teacher in individual and small group lessons to refine their movement and discover their forte - ballet, tap, modern, ballroom, swing, and more! We also offer Scottish dancing lessons with a ball at the end of the course to put these into practice.
Dance lessons take place in the Performing Arts Centre, with semi-sprung dance floor, mirrors and ballet barres. Pupils can participate in Dance as part of the Games programme and/or as a co-curricular activity. These sessions focus on good physical and mental health, while pupils gain a broader knowledge of dance and build confidence through movement. For those wanting to further their dance training, bespoke dance tuition is available, with the option to work towards dance syllabus examinations with the Royal Academy of Dance and IDTA.
Classes are recommended for those pupils who:
- Are keen dancers / have taken dance lessons previously and want to continue their dance training in one or more styles
- Are complete beginners who would like to learn something new, whether it be purely recreational or at a more serious level
- Aspire to study a linked discipline at a higher level, whether it is linked to the performing arts or to improve agility for another sporting specialism
There are also regular opportunities to take part in dance performance in school and at external events.
