  • Power of Women visit Ampleforth

    Tuesday 25 June brought forty-four primary school students from Middlesborough for an ‘Inspiration Day’ at the College as part of a Primary School Ambassador Programme.  This is one of the initiatives set up by Power of Women campaign, which was formed in response to the charity Plan International UK’s 2016 report identifying Middlesbrough as the ‘worst place to be a girl.’ Their mission is simple: to improve the lives of young people in the Tees Valley and beyond by elevating aspirations, ensuring equal opportunities for all students, and smashing gender stereotypes.

    What a joy it was to join with so many families for Confirmation on Sunday. Marie and I congratulate all our students who received the sacrament of Confirmation from the Bishop of Middlesbrough, Rt Rev Terence Drainey - it was an uplifting and wonderful day for the Abbey and the College.

    The tennis season continues apace with all our boys' teams and the U18A, U18B and U14A girls seeing victory over Giggleswick at the weekend. We were delighted to host our friends from the RA day charity and from the Lourdes Pilgrimage group for coffee in the Main Hall after Sunday Mass.
